The 5 Skills That Students Need Before the First Day of Kindergarten

4. Phonics and Print Concepts: Students should be able to match spoken sounds with words and recognize common words in print. 
5. Alphabet Knowledge: Students should be able to recognize and name letters as well as understand the relationship between letters and sounds.
